On 21-22 June 2017, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights and Land Tenure Security Project monitored cascade training which was conducted by the grassroots trainers of land community, at Thma Da Pagoda, Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, participated by 24 participants, 18 of whom were women.
On 3 May 2017, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights and Land Tenure Security Project monitored cascade training which was conducted by the grassroots trainers of land community, at Tumnop Thmey village, Tropheang Tav commune, Anglong Veng district, Oddormeanchey province, participated by 22 participants, 12 of whom were women.
CCHR’s Business and Human Rights team conducted a research mission on the land disputes between the people and Angkor Sugar Company at Koun Kriel commune, Samraong district, Oddar Mean Chey Province, and between the people and MDS Company at Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat Province from 24 April to 01 May 2017.
CCHR’s Business and Human Rights team conducted a research mission on the land dispute between the indigenous Bunong people and Socfin-KCD Company at Bu Sra commune, Pech Chreada District, Mondulkiri province, from 27-30 March 2017.
In the morning of 07 March 2017, the Municipality of Phnom Penh (MPP) organized a press conference on progress towards resolution of the land dispute for the remaining people of the Borei Keila Community.
On 22 February 2017, a group of civil society representatives met with the First Commission of the National Assembly (NA) and requested the Commission to examine eight land conflict cases, including the Lor Peang Village case in Kampong Chhnang; the Boeung Pram case in Battambang; the UDG case in Koh Kong; certain sugar cane cases in Koh Kong, Kampong Speu, Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear; the Lower Sesan II Dam case in Stung Treng; Prame village case in Prear Vihear; and the railway and OCIC case in Phnom Penh.
On 03 to 05 April 2017, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights Project (BHRs) cooperated with partner NGOs, NGO Forum, ADHOC and CLEC to collect updated information regarding land dispute between the affected people at Sangkum Thmey village, Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province and “MDS Thmorda S.E.Z Co., Ltd.,”.
On Thursday 17th November 2016, CCHR's Radio Programe held a talk show on the topic" The responsibility of corporate actors to respect human rights in the land sector ". Guest speakers on this programe are Mr. No Migy is a Media an Advocacy Officer, and Mr. Ny Chandy, Lawyer from Legal Town Law Firm Facilitator by Mr. Buth Vanndy.
